Course Work and Homework:
This is a hands-on class. The lecture and lab elements of the class are mixed during the 3 hours of each class. There are 4 components of each class: the lecture, the lab, a quiz and the reading assignment. The quiz does a good job at verifying that you have read the reading assignment and helps with the preparation of taking the Net+ Certification. The reading should be done prior to the class that it is listed (for example, Chapter 4 should be read prior to coming to Class 2).

Most of the knowledge you obtain comes from actually doing the labs, hence, most of the credit for the class comes from completion of the labs. If you are having trouble completing a lab, ask me for help. I can schedule additional time to help you. If you find yourself finishing before the end of class, ask me for extra credit assignments. It is up to you to get as much out of this class as you can.

It is also important that you stay up with the class labs (try not to fall behind). To help motivate you in this area, I will take 10% off of late labs. If they are more than 3 weeks late, I will take 30% off.
Quizzes:
I have set the quizzes up so they may be opened and taken more than once. But, if you have to open them more than once, it follows that you should get less points than someone who only opened the quiz once. So here is the way it works:
  • The first time you open the quiz, you are working for 100%
  • The second time you open the quiz, you are working for 80%
  • The third time you open the quiz, you are working for 60%, and so on. . .

** WARNING **

Do not open the quiz until you are ready to take it and submit your answers as final. Any evidence that the quiz has been opened other than the time you are ready to take it will result in less points per the grading above !!

When you are done trying, you may open the quiz using the session name followed by -ans (ex: 245_media-ans). Press the "Submit Answers" button at the bottom of the page without answering any of the questions and the quiz will give you the correct answers. Your score on the -ans session does not count, it is just there so you can get the correct answers.
Grading Policy:
Your grade is weighted toward your labs !!

Labs 60%
Quizzes 16%
Final 16%
Attendance & Participation 8%
