I remember when I initially wanted to take hormones to become more feminine. The plan was to use one of the "alternate sources" for the hormones. In order to know what I was doing I read books on the subject, one of which was Dr. Kirk's books on hormones. This book convinced me that the risk was worth checking out the more conventional method of getting the hormones. As it turns out, coming out to 3 doctors and about $1,500 later I was to the point where I had the prescription. My personal opinion is that about $1,400 of the cost was unnecessary.
Hormones are not a permanent step so why not let the person requesting them do what they want to do ? Is it necessary to have someone evaluate the subjects thought process from the outside (of their brain)? Well maybe, since the human race has been infected by the lawyer virus, something may be necessary, but a written statement with check boxes (like a real estate contract) should suffice to vaccinate the situation from a potential infection of the lawyer virus. This maze of requirements is more likely to motivate someone to use the alternate sources I mentioned earlier.
